10-07-2017

Danish movies have enjoyed growing popularity among Polish viewers in the last years. Danish Cultural Institute has yearly cooperated with summer film festivals with Danish or Scandinavian themes in Poland. This year the festivals will screen:

  • miniseries for children Great Granddad’s Tall Tales (dir. Tone Mygind Rostbøll, Lea Glob) about a 5-year-old Theodor and his great granddad that tells Theodor fantastic stories from his own childhood;
  • short documentaries Faith Hope Afghanistan (dir. Jens Pedersen) that show the children in Kabul and their lives in the shadow of conflict;
  • documentaries by Anna Elisabeth Jessen, presenting stories of exceptional women in contemporary Denmark, made in connection with the 100th anniversary for women’s electoral rights in Denmark.

Great Granddad’s Tall Tales and Faith Hope Afghanistan will be screened from July 17th to July 23rd at Scandinavian Film Festival in DarĹ‚owo.

Scandinavian Film Festival is an overview of the latest and slightly older Scandinavian films. Besides film screenings, the festival offers artistic events, meetings with filmmakers and concerts related to the culture and heritage of Scandinavia.

Anna Elisabeth Jessen’s Mrs Søeborg’s sense of life and Sister Gonge moves to the city will be screened under Film and Theater Festival in Zielona Góra on July 12th and 13th in the Danish documentaries section.
