Huge Project of LM Glasfiber

The company is considering investment worth almost 600 000,00 PLN and Job for 1400 people In Goleniów.

The Danes are investing in Poland willingly. To the full happiness one thing is missing – the zone.

There are not so many willing to invest right now but there is couple of lines of business that are simply thriving. Among those is wind-power engineering. ABB concern is building in Lodz electric-power appliances plant for wind farms. Now it is time for a producer of paddles for windmills.

Three times more

A huge plan has LM Glasfiber from Denmark, which opened biggest plant in this part of Europe in the beginning of this year.
- The company is planning on having three halls, which is already in land development plan. Coaching center is also taken into consideration – said Andrzej Nadobny, director of Architecture and Environmental Protection Section of Urzad Gminy i Miasta Goleniów.
LM Glasfiber has 28 hectare lot in the area on Goleniów Industry Park. This time Danes want the investment to be in the special economic zone.
- Along with Zachodniopomorski Center of Investor Service we are talking with that company. We are also in touch with their consultants – confirms Krzysztof Dolganow, president of Kostrzynsko-Slubicka Special Economic Zone. He does not want to reveal any details though. We managed to find out a bit more.

Big money

Representative of consulting company doing the project says that the company filed motion for investment worth 60 millions Euros and creating 300 new jobs.
- But those are minimum values for the land to be taken for the zone. In reality the investment will be much greater but at this moment decisions are being made – source of “PE” says.

In the 2nd stage company is planning on doubling the project. Altogether we are talking about investment worth 600 millions PLN and 1400 jobs. We were not able to confirm those figures in the company.  Marek Sterżęga, director of LM Glasfiber Poland and Helle Larsen Andersen were not available.  They were both on vacation.

Not without obstacles

We don’t know what will happen with plans about entering special economic zone. Lately Finance Ministry was not eager to enlarge zones with private land. It is connected with many abnormalities during the process that were detected by UrzÄ…d Skarbowy, press office of minister explains.
In the beginning of this year LM Glasfiber open plant in Goleniow - producing paddles for big wind turbines used by seaside and inland wind farms. The cost was about 70 millions Euros and in March 380 people were employed there (will be over 500). The plant had couple years delay. Investor bought land in 2002 but construction was postponed because of demand drop. But because of EU regulations about clean energy, company has many orders again.
LM Glasfiber is world leading supplier of paddles for turbines – among their clients are biggest producers of turbines. Company has 13 plants; in the end of 2008 it employed 7200 people. Last year their sale was 885 millions Euros.

THERE ARE OTHER BIG PROJECTS

Weyerhaeuser

 Procter and Gamble supplier wants to spend 200 millions PLN and create 100 jobs for the first in Europe cellulose fibers factory. Company is on New York and Chicago Stock Exchange. Besides Poland, company is also considering turkey. In our country 2 possible locations are considered: Kutno and GdaÅ„sk. But Americans are still postponing final decision that was to be made in June.

IKEA

 Is planning on spending 6 billion PLN in 8 years.  Swedes are planning on spending 300 millions Euros for production center. Sources say that it is six halls (lumber-mill, plywood plant, HDF boards plant, and kitchen furniture elements factory). Localization is nearby BiaÅ‚ystok.
