Telko Poland Sp. z o.o., the Polish subsidiary of the Finnish Kauko Telko Corporation was awarded "The Finnish Company of the Year in Poland Award". The award has been established in co-operation with the Finnish Trade Guild and Finpro Poland and was granted for the first time in 2004. Telko Poland’s Managing Director Kim Jensen received the award which was handed over by Mr. Jan Store himself, the Finnish Ambassador to Poland, at a ceremony at the Le Regina Hotel in Warsaw.
The activities of Telko Poland were established in Poland 1966 as a representation office operating within the Commercial section of the Finnish Embassy. In 1991, the business activity was incorporated. The origin of the business activity was Metex Corporation, which was the marketing channel for the Finnish metal industry. Many well known Finnish companies have entered the Polish market through Metex. Today, Telko Poland is operating within the 3 business divisions of its parent company; Industrial Machinery, Food Industry and Plastics Raw Materials.
In his speech, the head of Finpro Poland, Mr. Juha Rautalahti, noted Telko Poland’s 40 years presence in the Polish market and the steady growth achieved in turnover and net result, respectively. The selection of Telko Poland as the Finnish Company of the Year in Poland was underlined by Telko Poland’s balance of export of Polish products and import to Poland, its ability to motivate the personnel to long lasting employment and its role as establisher of Finnish companies to the Polish market.
Eleven Finnish companies had applied or were recommended for The Finnish Company of the Year in Poland Award. ‘All of the candidates showed great achievements and profound engagement in the Polish market, and the decision to select a winner was very hard’, states Esko Kilpinen, Chairman of the Finnish Trade Guild and President of the Scandinavian Chamber of Commerce.
The Finnish Company of the Year Award is helpful in promoting Poland as a destination country for further Finnish investments and is an annually granted recognition to a Finnish company operating in Poland. The award has been initiated by Finpro, the Finnish Trade Commission in Poland, and Finnish Trade Guild. The companies are evaluated according to three selection criteria: visibility, business success and sustainability, and ability to carry out challenging business development processes successfully.
