The gravity of cyberthreats has never been greater, impacting both state institutions and entrepreneurs. This is one of the critical issues from the business perspective. Therefore, the SPCC was happy and honoured to host a breakfast meeting with Dariusz Standerski, PhD, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Digital Affairs, Ministerstwo Cyfryzacji on June 25.

  • Cybersecurity
Every day, the Ministry receives reports showing alarming statistics. Just a day before our meeting, more than 300 attacks were recorded. That indicates the severity of the situation, but what is crucial - all these attacks were unsuccessful.

Nevertheless, Poland is the most attacked member state in the European Union.

"We have to focus on innovations and build resilience, as we have to be prepared for even more extensive incidents in the future." – stressed Minister Standerski.

One significant step towards this goal is to adopt legislation to respond to changing reality. The Ministry of Digital Affairs closed public consultations, which gave around 1000 opinions. That is great, highly appreciated insight, giving the Ministry's experts a broader perspective.

  • Investment
The Ministry recently announced an investment of 3 billion PLN in cybersecurity, which includes investments in technology and social resilience against cyberattacks, further development of the Mobywatel app and cooperation with the Ministry of Education to ensure education at all ages. "Cybersecurity is as strong as its weakest element, " said Minister Standerski.

  • AI
Poland is working on implementing the AI Act and is a European leader in this respect. The Commission for Artificial Intelligence Supervision will be launched within 12 months and can be operational, e.g., on August 1st, 2025. The office will certify and control AI systems to lower user responsibility. Another crucial factor is AI funds, which ensure financing for research and development of high ethical standards and ethical use of AI.

We want to thank Minister Standerski for his valuable presentation and comprehensive answers to the companies' questions.
And last but not least, thanks to the Ministerstwo Cyfryzacji team for the smooth cooperation!
