The Polish economy will not avoid experiencing a significant contraction, however the recession may not be so deep as in other European countries states Jakob Ekholdt Christensen, Chief Analyst at Danske Bank.
The sizeable fiscal and monetary policy responses to COVID-19 crisis play a role, Poland will also benefit from having a much smaller tourist sector than other European countries. Another important factor which helps Polish economy is relatively big domestic market, it is less reliant on global trade and hence less exposed to the trade shock.
Consumption is on recovery path, but without swift rebound as people are still uncertain, which has impact on their decisions regarding shopping and travelling. This effect will last for some time, probably until a vaccine or effective drug is found.
