Stronger Together – the second day of the Swedish Royal Visit to Poland focused on cooperation in defence and innovation

The second day of the State Visit of Their Majesties King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden to Poland together with the accompanying business delegation, brought important conversations on topics crucial for cooperation between our countries. It also served as a testimony to the strategic nature of the partnership.
The morning Swedish-Polish Total Defence Forum, with the participation of Rafał Trzaskowski, Mayor of Warsaw; Carl-Oskar Bohlin, Sweden’s Minister for Civil Defence; and Marcin Kierwiński, Poland’s Minister of the Interior, as well as key Polish and Swedish stakeholders, highlighted opportunities in total defence, critical infrastructure, dual-use technologies and energy.
Ericsson and PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna presented a success case of already implemented industrial collaboration. Presentations of major projects underway – such as Poland’s first nuclear power plant and the Port Polska airport brought a future perspective to the table.
The afternoon meeting dedicated to “Scaling Innovation for Europe: Poland and Sweden” was opened by Poland’s Minister of Finance and Economy, Andrzej Domański, CFA, and on the Swedish side by Minister for Foreign Affairs Maria Malmer Stenergard. Insightful panels with practitioners working within the startup and innovation ecosystem demonstrated that innovation never emerges in isolation, with both sides of the Baltic Sea sharing experience that can help to build European competitiveness.
The events were organized by Business Sweden, the Embassy of Sweden in Poland, and the Polish Investment and Trade Agency, with the participation of a Swedish delegation consisting of 65 entities.
