New ship ORP Henryk Zygalski launched
On January 14, 2026, Remontowa Shipbuilding S.A. held a ceremony to launch the second DELFIN-class radio-electronic reconnaissance vessel, the future ORP Henryk Zygalski, intended for the Polish Navy.
Deputy Minister of National Defense Paweł Bejda participated in the event on behalf of Deputy Prime Minister W. Kosiniak-Kamysz, together with representatives of the Ministry of National Defense, the Armament Agency, and the program contractors – Saab Kockums AB and Remontowa Shipbuilding S.A.
The launched vessel is the second in a series of modern radio-electronic reconnaissance ships (SIGINT) acquired as part of the DELFIN program, which aims to increase the capabilities of the Polish Armed Forces in the field of maritime radio-electronic reconnaissance and build situational awareness in the Baltic Sea. The DELFIN program is an important element in the modernization of the Polish Navy and the consistent strengthening of Poland’s maritime security.
“The satisfaction of our direct customer, SAAB Kockums AB, the Armament Agency, and the Navy is our priority, and I am convinced that this will remain the case until the end of the DELFIN program,” said Dariusz Jaguszewski, President of the Management Board of Remontowa Shipbuilding.
“We are proud to be the main contractor for this project. We signed the contract in November 2022, and thanks to our cooperation with Remontowa Shipbuilding in particular, we have managed to reach this stage in a very short time,” said Lars Brännström, Vice President of SAAB Kockums AB.
The ship was named ORP Henryk Zygalski in honor of an outstanding Polish mathematician and cryptologist who contributed to breaking the code of the German Enigma encryption machine in the 1930s.
