A Royal Visit to Poland: King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden

The recent three-day state visit paid on the 10th-12th of March by Their Majesties the King and Queen of Sweden, accompanied by a strong, high-level government delegation and business, was an important milestone in Polish–Nordic cooperation.

“Polish Swedish cooperation has been developing dynamically for many years, but the current geopolitical circumstances and the evolving security situation in Europe are strengthening these relations even further. The Strategic Partnership signed in 2024, the bilateral business summit held last November in Stockholm, and now the state visit of King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden are all significant signals confirming the common interests of our countries,” emphasized Artur Swirtun in a comment for the XYZ portal.
The second day’s programme included the Swedish Polish Total Defence Forum, “Stronger Together”, and the conference “Scaling Innovation for Europe: Sweden and Poland in Partnership”, focusing on how the countries’ innovation ecosystems can be more closely connected. Ministers Marcin Kierwiński and Carl-Oskar Bohlin signed a letter of intent in Warsaw, reinforcing the strategic partnership amid threats posed by hybrid and climate crises in Europe.

On the final day of their visit, the royal couple visited Gdańsk.
The Baltic Sea Security Talks, the conference organised by Business Sweden and the Casimir Pulaski Foundation, was the highlight of the programme. His Majesty Carl XVI Gustaf, King of Sweden, underlined the growing importance of Swedish-Polish cooperation:
“The partnership between Poland and Sweden is growing closer. The closer we stand together, the better equipped we are. We are part of a broader community that stands up to defend our common values. By strengthening our cooperation, we are building a stronger home for future generations.”

The day also saw further collaboration agreements by Saab, strengthening its partnership with Poland’s defence industry, including agreements signed on 12 March with Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ) and WB Group.
Swedish investors are reliable partners who approach the Polish market with a long-term perspective, reinvesting a record 93% of their profits. This approach, combined with dynamic economic changes, indicates that these ties are likely to become even stronger in the coming years. The Royal State Visit together with an unremarkable business delegation is an important milestone in this collaboration.
