Rohlig SUUS Logistics launches a customs warehouse in Łódź – greater support for importers and exporters

Rohlig SUUS Logistics has opened a customs warehouse in the logistics center in Łódź, expanding its service offering in the region for both export and import operations. A customs warehouse provides, among other things, the possibility of deferring duties and taxes until the products are placed on the market. It also enables cooperation in a VMI model – comprehensive management of import stock and supply for production.
A customs warehouse provides a range of benefits for companies engaged in international trade. Among other things, it allows for the deferral of payment of duties, excise taxes, and VAT until the products are released onto the market, and goods can be stored there indefinitely. In the case of re-export, the warehouse enables avoidance of customs and tax liabilities as well as the execution of corrective procedures, for example, if goods are detained by the customs office. It is also possible to carry out additional services in the warehouse, such as co-packing, labeling, or attaching user manuals.
– A customs warehouse means greater financial liquidity and effective inventory management. It is the foundation for collaboration in a Vendor Managed Inventory model. This solution is dedicated to manufacturing companies and includes managing imports and component inventories, storing them in a customs warehouse, and optimizing deliveries – with deferred payment and transferring ownership of the goods from the supplier to the client only at the moment of their withdrawal from the warehouse – says Mirosław Kłósek, Customs Product Director at Rohlig SUUS Logistics.
– In the era of nearshoring, when more and more companies are locating production closer to their markets, we are seeing growing interest in this approach. Opening a warehouse in Łódź is a response to customer needs – he adds.
SUUS specializes in comprehensive customs services. Currently, it has 13 customs warehouses and over 60 authorized locations in Poland, as well as a network of customs agencies in its branches in Central and Eastern Europe and Kazakhstan. The operator also offers clients cooperation in the Customs Control Tower model, providing full customs support both in the country of origin and in the target market.
Strategic location
– Central Poland is today one of the fastest-growing regions in the country. Its major advantages are its strategic location and modern road, intermodal, and air infrastructure. This is recognized by local entrepreneurs as well as foreign investors. Manufacturing industries are strongly present here, ranging from FMCG, household appliances, and pharmaceuticals, to textiles, electromachinery, and furniture industries. These companies often operate in global markets, importing raw materials and components or exporting finished products. That is why we observe a high demand in the region for comprehensive logistics support – warehousing, transportation, and customs services – emphasizes Krzysztof Gąsiewski, Regional Director, Rohlig SUUS Logistics.
The new customs warehouse operates in SUUS’s logistics center in Łódź, which combines the functions of a warehouse and a transshipment terminal. In the customs service area, a temporary storage warehouse and a designated place are also available. Additionally, in the region, the operator provides support in contract logistics, including goods storage and value-added services (e.g., co-packing and creation of product sets). The facility has permits to handle ADR goods and food. SUUS also provides road transport – full truckload, less-than-truckload, and partial shipments (FTL, LTL, PTL), both domestically and in international routes, as well as last-mile distribution.
