DSV – Global Transport and Logistics has started an investment in Łódź
DSV – Global Transport and Logistics has started another investment – the expansion of the Łódź logistics center, which is a superhub in Poland. This will increase the role of Łódź as a key logistics hub for road transport, through which shipments will pass to recipients from all over Europe. As part of the investment, a modern multi-client warehouse equipped with the latest pro-environmental technologies will also be built.

Last year, DSV – Global Transport and Logistics announced a multi-year investment program in Polish. The plan envisages the implementation of a number of projects that aim not only to increase the stability of national and international supply chains, but also to strengthen Polish as a key element of the European logistics architecture.
Another project implemented by DSV is a new logistics centre in the Łódź agglomeration, combining the function of a warehouse and a superhub for groupage road transport. In May, the ceremonial groundbreaking of the first shovel took place. Since then, work on the construction site has been actively progressing.
Łódź has been chosen as the location of the so-called superhub for groupage transports, which means that it will be a transshipment point for a significant volume of groupage, both import and export. It was extremely important for us to adjust the standard of the facility to the assumptions related to the development of the groupage product by increasing the area and number of transshipment docks – says Aristoteleis Liadis, Director, Road International BENELUX, FEP&EAST. “The adopted solutions will allow for more efficient handling operations, while improving the conditions for performing tasks by employees.
The DSV logistics centre in Łódź will have a total area of 24,000 sqm and will combine 3 functions: an office, a classic multi-client warehouse (14,000 sqm) and a transshipment terminal (8,200 sqm). The transshipment part will be equipped with 70 docks for trucks, including an additional gate on the +0 level.
According to our estimates, thanks to such a large size of the warehouse part, we will be able to handle up to 40 percent more international and domestic shipments than is the case today. We expect that thanks to the excellent location of Łódź on the map of Polish, excellent road connections with the most important cities in the country and international routes, the new multi-brand facility will perfectly fit the needs of the transport market – says Aristoteleis Liadis. “The new warehouse, in which we will use the latest technologies, will offer future customers exceptional quality and standard of warehouse services.
In accordance with DSV’s strategy, all facilities built by the operator must use the latest technologies that will help achieve the company’s sustainability goals. These include, among others, reducing emissions to net zero by 2050. Therefore, already at the design phase of the logistics center in Łódź, the effective use of the latest pro-environmental solutions was one of the priorities that were set for the architects. As a result, after the completion of the construction, the new facility will meet high environmental standards. As part of the investment, photovoltaic panels with an estimated total capacity of 2 MWp will be installed, which will make the building zero-emission. LED lights will be installed inside the investment, which will be managed by a dedicated IT system.
However, sustainability is not only about environmental issues, but also about caring for the well-being of employees. With their needs in mind, a chill-out room, a large, comfortable and glazed canteen, a place for charging electric bicycles and a shelter with a relaxation area will be created.
The general contractor of the project is Rexbud.
