PKO Bank Polski provides financing for Obton’s 75 MW solar expansion in Poland

Denmark-based renewables investor and asset manager Obton A/S has obtained about PLN 176 million from PKO Bank Polski (PKO BP) for financing a photovoltaic (PV) portfolio in Poland with a total capacity of 75 MWp.

The bank will provide financing for the construction of 72 solar farms throughout Poland, PKO BP’s adviser, law firm Dentons, said last week.

Obton entered the Polish PV market in 2021, acquiring a portfolio of 51 facilities with a total capacity of 46 MW. At that time, financing for the Danish investor was provided by KfW IPEX-Bank GmbH, one of the leading German banks supporting climate protection projects.

Shortly after that, Obton acquired 38 MW of PV projects in the country from Chinese developer ReneSola. Each project had a capacity of no more than 1 MW. The same year, the Danish company bought from ReneSola another Polish PV portfolio, of 37 MW.
